Now We’re Talking: SciComm Collective Officially Launched

We’re not just creating a podcast, we’re building a community.

On Wednesday night, a cozy corner of the UWA Tavern buzzed with excitement as a group of science communicators and friends gathered to launch our very own podcast, The SciComm Collective!

What started as a casual conversation between classes turned into a full-fledged project fueled by curiosity and a dash of Audacity (pun included). None of us were experts in podcasting, just a bunch of passionate science communicators (or future science communicators) eager to share our thoughts.

The launch party was as much about celebrating our first episode as it was about acknowledging the journey ahead. We chatted about future directions, looked back at the challenges, and most importantly, embraced the fact that we’re all figuring it out together.

It’s amazing what can happen when you bring people together and make science and SciComm accessible. We’re not just creating a podcast, we’re building a community.

Thank you to UWA Grand Challenges, and Clare Senior who came out to celebrate with us yesterday! Thanks also to Dr Heather Bray, our SciComm Coordinator and inspiration. Listen out for Episode Two (dropping next week!) to hear from Heather all about her journey into science communication.

So here’s to the start of something new — a platform where we can explore, learn, and grow. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us, and we hope you’ll tune in and learn alongside us.

We love hearing everyone’s stories of how they got into science communication. What about you? What brought you here? Feel free to share in the comments!
